Congregational Learning Community
First cohort launched Fall 2024!
Churches within a 3-hour radius from Baylor University have been invited to apply to participate in this exciting new opportunity. The Congregational Learning Community focuses on equipping churches to welcome and support young people (aged 13-25) with disabilities (including mental health challenges and chronic illnesses). We are learning together how to engage creatively with young people with disabilities, reflect theologically on disability and ministry, and adapt and apply practices in accessible, enriching, and spiritually formative ways.
Participating churches will have a chance to:
- Strengthen their ministry and outreach to young people in their community
- Learn how to make their church and worship practices more accessible
- Discover how to better engage young people with disabilities in spiritual growth and Christian practices
- Better attend to mental health needs in their midst
- Engage young people with disabilities more fully in the life of the church
- Receive free and practical resources
- Learn from leading experts at Baylor University and beyond
- Build relationships with other churches in this region
- Celebrate the unique contributions of young people with disabilities
- Grow in their confidence in serving a greater diversity of youth

Follow Along!
Approximately 20 congregations across Central Texas have been selected to join our first Congregational Learning Community.
The first Congregational Learning Community began with a kick-off gathering at Baylor University in October 2024.
We are excited to learn together about fostering spaces of belonging for youth and young adults with disabilities, mental health challenges, and chronic illnesses.
