Become a Faculty Affiliate

We welcome as affiliates Baylor faculty and postdoctoral fellows whose work advances the mission and vision of the Baylor Center for Developmental Disabilities.

Who is eligible?

  • Must be a faculty member or postdoctoral fellow at Baylor University

  • Must affirm the mission, vision, and values of the BCDD

  • Must have recent, active, or planned projects focused on disability. Examples include: 

    • A funded or unfunded research project

    • A university course or program

    • A clinical training experience

    • A community partnership or project

How do I apply?

  1. To apply, send Dr. Kristen Padilla a:

    1. (a) brief letter describing your interest in affiliating with the Center and your work related to disability (less than one page)

    2. (b) current CV

  2. The Director and Steering Committee will review all applications and respond shortly

  3. Faculty affiliations last two years and can be renewed

Why become a faculty affiliate?

  • Opportunity to advance interdisciplinary work on disability at Baylor and beyond

  • Access to topical and methodological expertise related to disability

  • Networking opportunities within Baylor and throughout the state

  • Promotion of your work through our website, social media, newsletters, media releases, and other venues

  • Administrative and logistical support for disability-related events and projects

  • Access to free community clinic space for training, courses, research and/or meetings

  • Letters of support and resources for grant proposals

  • Notifications about relevant federal and foundation grants, awards, conferences, and events

  • Help securing letters of support or commitment for projects and grants

  • Help with participant recruitment

  • Opportunity for students to affiliate as student fellows or become graduate assistant positions

  • Eligibility for mini-grants

  • Support for developing and writing grant proposals

  • Support for managing funded grants

Faculty Affiliate Responsibilities:

  • Promoting the BCDD in any of your supported work

  • Acknowledging relevant Center support in publications and presentations

  • Updating us each year about associated projects, publications, and presentations for our annual report

  • Attending occasional activities hosted by the Center

  • Providing occasional input on Center initiatives or activities related to your area of interest/expertise
