Belonging Project
We flourish most in the midst of community. We feel best when we belong. Yet many children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) miss out on opportunities to participate fully and meaningfully in the communities and relationships that matter most to them.
This project explores the pathways to belonging in school, work, church, and other community contexts. We are exploring a series of related questions: What does it really mean to belong? What are the practices and postures of communities that lead in this direction (or lead away)? What difference does belonging make in the lives of individuals with IDD? What impact does it have on the communities that learn to welcome them well?
